Pirates to host car show for hero

The Braden River High School Pirate family will host the Patrick Lay Memorial Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4, at the school, 6545 S.R. 70 E., Bradenton.

The show, hosted in honor of Braden River graduate and military veteran Spc. 4 Patrick Lay II, who was killed in an IED attack in August in Afghanistan, will benefit the school’s FFA Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Festivities include a deejay, vendors, food and a 50/50 raffle. Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Best Engine, Best Interior, People’s Choice, Best 1950s, Best 1960s and Best 1970s. Vehicle registration runs from 8 to 10 a.m. the day of the show and costs $20.
