Sept. 16
A complaint by any other name …
3:21 p.m. — 500 block of Triton Avenue. Parking Complaint. A man who works for a real-estate company that has nearby vacant lots listed told police he wasn’t complaining about a construction vehicle parked nearby but wished that the company’s owner had called to let him know that it would be parked there. The construction company foreman said he parked the vehicle there because of a lack of space and would speak to a representative of the real-estate company.

Sept. 17
Voluminous concern
12:47 a.m. — 600 block of Marbury Lane. Noise Disturbance. A woman who was renting a home for the weekend agreed to turn off her stereo and bring her family indoors after police received complaints about noise in the pool area.

Broken window theory
9:18 a.m. — 100 block of Sands Point Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported a broken window on the corner of a marina storage building and told police that it might be the result of vandalism. Police determined that the break, which was approximately 10 inches off the ground, was likely caused by a small stone and probably occurred while a crew was mowing the grass.

Now he knows
9:22 a.m. — 5200 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A driver told police that he had received several tickets recently but did not know that his driver’s license was suspended. Police confiscated the man’s license and gave him a notice to appear in Manatee County court.

Sept. 24
Nothing’s afloat
7:38 a.m. — 6800 block of GMD. Suspicious Boat. Police noticed a boat tied to a seawall that had not been there during the previous shift. Dispatch called the owner, who said he was aware of the boat’s location and would retrieve it later that day.

Moving day
10:50 a.m. — 600 block of Broadway. Civil Disturbance. A woman asked police to be on standby while a man removed his household items from her residence.

Can you hear us now?
3:09 p.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Police warned one of several boaters under Longboat Pass Bridge about guidelines for playing loud music.

Game over
5:14 p.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A man told police that he thought it was all right to have unsealed alcohol in a plastic cup after police found a game of beer pong set up for play. The man received a written warning and stopped the game.

Crack open the code
5:15 p.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Police gave written warnings to two men who had open cans of beer.

Heated issue
7:36 p.m. — 2600 Harbourside Drive. Fire. A restaurant supervisor noticed smoke coming from a dumpster and called Longboat Key Fire Rescue. Kitchen staff told police that pizza oven ashes might have caused the fire. Police and firefighters told staff about the importance of extinguishing ashes before discarding them.

Resting place
11:32 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Parking Violation. After three attempts, police woke a man who was asleep behind the wheel of his pickup truck in a park area. The man said that he had had “not too much” to drink and allowed police to search his vehicle. Police called a cab to take the man home.
