Cops Corner: East County

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
Oct. 5
12:40 p.m. — 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Lakewood Ranch High). Information. The two complainants alleged the two suspects bumped one of the complainants as they walked down the sidewalk. The incident occurred about 10 minutes after school was dismissed.

MYAKKA CITY
Reported Sept. 30
8:20 a.m. — 27100 block of Gopher Hill Road. Burglary. An unknown person took two horse halters from the barn behind a residence. Both halters had been hanging on hooks in the barn’s aisle.

Reported Oct. 4
1 p.m. — 41400 block of State Road 64 E. Trespass on property. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s fenced and locked property. No forced entry was evident, indicating the person(s) entered the premises on foot. Once inside, the person(s) opened a gate to the victim’s swine pen, allowing the victim’s last swine to escape. The swine’s approximate weight is 300 pounds. The victim said he believes the swine is at large at this time. No evidence was found to indicate the animal had been shot or severely injured. The incident is one of several that have occurred at this location. The victim reported one of his swine was shot in a prior incident. These cases possibly are related to a civil dispute. No suspects have been developed at this time.

Reported Oct. 5
10 a.m. — 10000 block of 284th Street E. Animal complaint. The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, reported three horses were not being treated very well. When a deputy arrived at the scene, no one was home. He went behind the residence, where he saw two brown horses. One horse was eating some foliage; another one was drinking water from a large container. The deputy saw three empty feed buckets outside the fenced-in area. There was very little grass in that area, the deputy reported, but the horses appeared to be OK. The complainant said she thought the horses had lost weight since she first saw them. The area appeared not to have been used for stabling horses in the past.

OTHER
Reported Oct. 3
5:46 p.m. — 7500 block of Rio Bella Place. Grand theft. The complainant reported the pool pump equipment had been stolen from the home under construction. Additionally, wire damage was evident from where valves had been ripped out. No one saw the theft, and it’s unknown exactly when the theft occurred. Evidence wasn’t collected because the pump and equipment already had been replaced, as the pool water was turning green.

Reported Oct. 4
5 p.m. — 8100 block of 27th Street E. Suspicious circumstance. The complainant reported unknown person(s) untied a perimeter gate, allowing three of his cattle to escape. The complainant said he couldn’t locate evidence indicating anyone had entered the pasture. At the time of the report, two of the cattle had been located and returned to the pasture. One 500-pound yearling remained at large. Eastside dispatch was provided the relevant information in the event someone other than the complainant located the yearling.
