Lady Mustangs claim first district title

The Lakewood Ranch High volleyball team captured the program’s first district title with a 3-1 victory over Seminole Osceola in the Class 6A-District 12 championship tonight.

After losing the first game 19-25, the top-seeded Lady Mustangs rallied, winning the next three games 25-23, 25-12, 25-20.

Lakewood will return to action at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Class 6A-Region 3 quarterfinals. The Lady Mustangs will host District 11 runner up Tampa King, marking the first time they’ve hosted a regional tournament match.
