Season of Sculpture to unveil sixth season

Now in its sixth season, Sarasota’s Bayfront Park will soon be home to 10 new large-scale sculptures.

This year's Season of Sculpture exhibit, “Under Azure Skies,” reflects a range of styles that use natural materials, evocative and iconic subject matter with an organic emphasis.

“This exhibition was curated with the idea in mind that there is a power and significance that is unique to the man-made object,” says John Henry, the exhibit’s curator.

The exhibition was first shown in 2007, at Art St. Urban I in Lucerne, Switzerland, where it has remained until now. After the exhibition, the show will travel to Florida International University, in Miami.

The sculptures will be installed in late October, with the public unveiling in November. Sarasota Season of Sculpture offers free docent-guided tours during the exhibition, which runs through May 2012.
