The Braden River High football team defeated Port Charlotte 20-10 in non-district action Sept. 30 to earn its first win of the season.
Senior Ryan Fischer stepped in for an injured Steven Ross at quarterback in the second half and led the visiting Pirates (1-4) to a come-from-behind victory. Fischer scored all three of Braden River’s touchdowns runs of one, five and seven yards.
Braden River returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 when the Pirates travel to Manatee to open their district season.
