March 23
Mall madness
5:22 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail. Trespassing. A mall cop told police a man was causing a disturbance at the mall and refused to leave. The man was issued a trespass warning and escorted off mall property.

Music warning issued
7:32 p.m. — 2500 block of Tenth Street. Noise Violation. A woman reported loud music coming from her neighbor’s house. Police heard the music from across the street and issued the neighbor a loud music warning.

March 24
Graffiti reported
2 p.m. — 400 block of Central Avenue. Graffiti. Someone painted graffiti along the north wall of a nail studio on Central Avenue.

Restaurant disturbance
11:22 p.m. — 10 block of North Lemon Avenue. Family Dispute. A restaurant employee told police two homeless men were disturbing customers, and police sent them on their way.

March 25
Sleeping on the stairs
10:41 p.m. — 1700 block of Main Street. Trespassing. A man was issued a verbal trespass warning for sleeping on the back stairwell of a building.

March 26
Lock your doors
9:43 a.m. — 1600 block of Laurel Street. Vehicle Burglary. A woman told police someone entered her unlocked car the night before for the third time this month. Police suggested she start locking the car.

County reports vandalism
10:37 a.m. — 1600 block of Ringling Boulevard. Criminal Mischief. A county employee told police someone threw a rock through the window of a county van that was parked in an employee parking lot.

Grave concern
11:01 a.m. — 3300 block of North Washington Boulevard. Criminal Mischief. Police responded to a report of a grave being damaged in a cemetery. A graveyard employee made plans to repair the damage.

Sore loser
4:10 p.m. — 2400 block of Main Street. Harassing Phone Calls. A man told police that he believes someone from his billiards league keeps harassing him with text messages because the second man is upset over losing a match. Police suggested he get a new phone number.

Robbed at gunpoint
8:54 p.m. — 3300 block of North Tamiami Trail. Armed Robbery. Three men robbed a couple at gunpoint. The men stole a necklace, two cell phones and a bank debit card in front of a store.

Sent packing
9:13 p.m. — 1500 block of First Street. Trespassing. Police observed three people loitering in the City Hall parking lot. All three were issued trespass warnings, and one received a citation for drinking a beer on the property.

March 27
Garage problems
12:13 a.m. — 2700 block of Bahia Vista Street. Trespassing. A security officer reported a man sleeping on the top of a parking garage and had him trespassed from the property.

Improving the smell?
2:20 a.m. — 3200 block of South School Avenue. Suspicious Person. A man told police while walking his dog late at night, he saw two suspicious men try and shove something in a trashcan. When he approached the men, they ran away. The man found three bottles of cologne in the trashcan that he turned over to police.

Driver suspected of drinking
3:50 p.m. — 3800 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. Someone reported that a woman was driving recklessly before pulling into a parking lot. She told police she had not been drinking but agreed to leave with her mother in another car.

All keyed up
7:22 p.m. — 2000 block of Ringling Boulevard. Criminal Mischief. A man reported that he and his wife exchange their children at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office while they are going through a divorce. When he walked out to the car with his kids, his car was keyed. He believes his wife is the culprit.

Trespass permission granted
9:03 p.m. — 700 block of South Osprey Avenue. Trespassing. A woman who works at a child protection center reported several homeless people sleeping outside her building late at night. She gave permission to allow anyone in the area to be trespassed from the property.

March 22
That’s cold
6:35 p.m. — 1400 block of Main Street. Theft. The owner of a frozen-yogurt store reported that her video surveillance camera showed an older woman walk into the store and take $20 from a tip jar while no one was looking. The woman, however, paid for a yogurt with her credit card before stealing the money, and credit card records will reveal who the thief was.
