THE COUPLE: Elizabeth Ellen Cosby, daughter of Pete and Mary Cosby, of Berlin, Md., and Ian Michael Eckert, son of Rick and Patty Eckert, of Sarasota.

BACKGROUND: Elizabeth attended McDaniel College, in Westminster, Md., and graduate from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She is the member relations director at The Field Club. Ian attended Penn State, in State College, Pa., and graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the senior coordinator of collection and exhibition technologies at The Museum of Modern Art, in New York City, and works remotely from Sarasota.

INTERESTS: Elizabeth loves anything outdoors and in the sunshine — boating, kayaking, crabbing, bicycling, wakeboarding and carving seashells. Ian also enjoys outdoor activities, although wakeboarding has not panned out, because he dislikes anything life-threatening.  He enjoys cooking, brewing beer, making mix-tapes, reading and drawing. Painting, screen-printing and their separate Etsy shops — www.elizabethcosby.com and www.ianeckert.com — are common interests.

THE PROPOSAL: It was a perfect day at the beach, and Elizabeth and Ian had all of South Lido to themselves. They went out right after work to see the sunset, and little did she know, a diamond ring was packed in the pocket of one of the beach chairs. Ian was taking pictures of Elizabeth relaxing in her chair with the Pocketbooth app, which takes four photos like an old-time photo booth. He asked Liz if she would take a shot of him. For the first photo, he pointed to his eyes; for the second, he put his hands over his heart; for the third, he pointed at Elizabeth; and for the fourth, he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. The best part — the couple has the moment captured forever in a filmstrip.

THE WEDDING: Saturday, June 23, at the Merry Sherwood Plantation in Berlin, Md.
