Lakewood tennis teams advance to state tournament

The Lakewood Ranch High boys and girls tennis teams both won their respective regional finals April 12 to advance to the Class 3A state tournament April 17-20 in Altamonte Springs.

The Mustangs defeated district champion Venice 4-3 while the Lady Mustangs defeated the Lady Indians, the district runner-up, 4-1.

Brothers Arnav and Arsav Mohanty both earned singles victories for Lakewood before teaming up for a doubles victory. Jacques Swanepoel earned the Mustangs other singles victory.

Cari Berry, Ashley Bongart, Veronica Sampalik and Sammi Aiezza all earned singles victories for the Lady Mustangs.
