Wave Runners make splash at FLAGS meet

The Lakewood Ranch YMCA Wave Runners sent four swimmers to the Florida Age Group Swimming Championships March 8-11 in Sarasota.

Sebastian Aguirre finished first in five of his six events in the 9-10 age group, including breaking the one-minute barrier in the 100-yard freestyle (59.93). As a result of his accomplishments, Aguirre was selected to compete in the Florida Swimming vs. Florida Gulf Coast All-Star Dual Meet March 23-25 at Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce.

Sydney Cusick set personal bests in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle while Chloe Millard set personal bests in the 200 freestyle and 50 butterfly.

11-12 Age Group:

Courtney Chapin set personal bests in both of her events, finishing in the Top 10 in the 11-12 age group. Chapin also qualified for the Senior Championships in the 100 backstroke (1:04.08).
