Scores: Pirate senior finishes as state runner-up

Braden River High senior Nathan Kirkman finished second in the 199-pound weight class of the Class 2A state weightlifting meet April 21, achieving his goal of earning a medal.

Kirkman benched 335 pounds and cleaned 325 pounds for a combined 660 pounds, tying his personal best. Kirkman finished 50 pounds behind Fleming Island’s Frant Caudio.

Braden River’s Tyler Pittman finished tied for eighth in the 154-pound weight class with a combined lift of 530 pounds and teammate Tyler Linde finished eighth in the 183-pound weight class with a combined lift of 580 pounds.
