Siesta Key Chamber to tee off with annual golf tourney

The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce will host the 13th annual Paul Ralston Golf Tournament May 7, at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club, 15150 70th Terrace E., Bradenton. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. and shotgun is at 1 p.m. Following play on the golf course, there will be a silent auction accompanied by dinner and the presentation of the tournament awards.

Paul Ralston served as executive director of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce from February 1998 until his death in February 2000. With a love for the game of golf, he also helped plan the first golf tournament as a way to support the chamber in its mission of promoting business on Siesta Key. In memory of Ralston, the chamber has seen to it that tournament is always played in his honor.

Those who plan to participate can be a part of the fun either registering as a single player for $150 or as a team of four for $550. More than 70 golfers already have registered for the tournament, however there are still plenty of spots open.

“As always we are really excited. It is one of our most fun events throughout the year and we are excited to return to the Ritz,” said Kevin Cooper, executive director of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce. “Most importantly, everyone had a good time and it helps benefit the chamber.”

In addition to the tournament, the silent auction also will have many tempting items, including boat rentals, fishing trips evening stays on Longboat Key and foursomes to play at The Ritz-Carlton Members Club.

The Ritz-Carlton’s 315-acre private course was designed by world-renowned architect Tom Fazio and includes abundant elevation changes and picturesque lakes throughout the course. The Members Club driving range will be available to all event participants prior to the start of the event, and the use of the facility and the practice balls is complimentary. Services include bag set-up, premium range ball use and beverage offerings.

There are also multiple sponsorship opportunities including Tee Sponsorship and Green Sponsorship for $100 and Hole Sponsorship for $150.
