Lady Mustangs keep state championship hopes alive

The Lakewood Ranch High softball team kept its state championship hopes alive with a 5-4 victory over Seminole Osceola in a Class 6A-Region 3 semifinal tonight.

The Lady Mustangs previously beat the Lady Warriors 9-1 to win their third consecutive district title last week.

With the win, Lakewood will travel to New Port Richey to face the winner of the other regional semifinal between Mitchell and River Ridge in the regional finals May 1.

Across town, the Braden River High softball team saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Okeechobee in a Class 7A-Region 3 semifinal tonight.
