PREEN & CHIC: TALK PRETTY TO ME

It's been a couple months since my last confession. As many times before, I did not repent and actually went ahead and compiled all the summer sins. One or two new additions to the grooming kit had to be added. While pondering in that little group of girls that, just like me, are obsessed with products, I couldn't help but think of the junkiest of them all. It's hard to pick one gal, since all of them are masters at the craft of conjuring up the “fountain of youth." However, on a Sunday night not long ago, I was at a mandatory weekly dinner party. Having been at the beach all day, I had to shower at my friend's house before the rest of the foodie gang arrived. As many other times before, I entered the beauty temple that Molly Klauber has created for herself.  It is no secret that the "it girl" I call my BFF is such a natural beauty, but just like the rest of us, she must perform up-keep to always look as PREEN & CHIC as only MK can.

I am given a plush towel and bathrobe as she quickly opens her cabinet to find “my” toothbrush and goes into her special “sample drawer,” which is stocked to the nines with all things beautiful. Molly instructs me to feel free to try anything in the multiple drawers and cabinets before she leaves me to the experience of a five-star spa. With several choices for hair care and up to 10 different body products to choose from just on her shower floor, I am extremely anxious to try them all. I finish getting squeaky clean, but now it's time to look around for moisturizers and hair products. I am astonished as I find not one or two of each, but six storage units full of multiple luxury products for every single need a product junkie may have. As I step into the kitchen to start cooking, I ask Molly a few questions about her all-time favorites beauty products. The Go To Girl is an expert in this field, and she has enough knowledge to receive an honorary doctorate. So it's no surprise that she smiles, happy to share her secrets.

P&C:  Tell us one of your homemade beauty recipes.

MK: Avocado and Buttermilk Mask:

1/4 very ripe small avocado
Buttermilk

Purpose: It's incredibly nourishing and moisturizing with a slight bleaching action which leaves your skin velvety! You can also use it in your hair, and I recommend leaving it in your hair for 30 minutes to help with frizziness and dryness.

Scoop out the avocado pulp and mash it with just enough buttermilk to form a creamy paste. A mortar and pestle or small bowl and fork work equally well for this. Warning: The mask can be a little runny, so keep your attire in consideration! Apply the mask with upward strokes to your face, neck and décolleté. Rinse after 20 to 30 minutes.

P&C:  Biggest beauty advice ever received?

MK: Use your ring finger when applying eye cream instead of your pointer finger, because it's too strong and stretches your skin more. And slightly lick your wine glass before you take a sip so your lipstick doesn't come off on the glass!
