Aug. 10
Box-office thief
3:30 p.m. — 1900 block of Main Street.
Theft. A woman reported the theft of her purse inside a movie theater.

Aug. 11
Vitamin robbery
10:30 a.m. — 4100 block of South Tamiami Trail.
Theft. A vitamin-store employee reported that someone stole a large amount of supplements. Employees discovered the theft when they performed an inventory of the store.

Customer service gone wrong
10:41 a.m. — 400 block of Central Avenue. Indecent Exposure. A man was arrested for exposing himself to a female employee while she was helping him locate some merchandise. The man was found in a nearby park and arrested.

Clean tide
8:50 p.m. — 1300 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. A store manager told police she saw a couple try to steal seven bottles of Tide laundry detergent. When an employee followed them to the parking lot, they left the detergent and fled in a pickup truck.

Aug. 12
Musical needs
3 a.m. — 1100 block of Ritz Carlton Drive.
Theft. A DJ told police that he noticed $7,500 worth of music equipment was stolen after he returned from the bathroom at a hotel where he was performing. The video showed three men roll a cart with the DJ’s items on it outside to a waiting pickup truck.

Outlandish behavior
11:10 a.m. — 1500 block of Main Street. Dispute. A pastry shop employee reported that a woman yelled at her and ran away.

Aug. 13
Unlocked bike
12:30 p.m. — 2000 block of Ringling Boulevard.
Theft. A man reported that someone stole his unlocked bicycle while he was in the courthouse.

Sparks flying
1:06 p.m. — 2100 block of Fifth Street. Fight. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, named “Sparks,” came to her house uninvited while she was with a male acquaintance. The two men got into a fight and the ex-boyfriend fled after being struck several times in the face.

Unsanitary findings
5:53 p.m. — 1900 block of Main Street. Found Property. A security officer turned over a black bag he found that was filled with syringes and bottled medications.

Open container exposure
7:30 p.m. — 10 block of Bayfront Drive. Open Container Violation. A woman drinking inside a park after hours had a warrant out for her arrest and was transported to jail.

Mystery theft
9:48 a.m. — 1300 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Burglary. A man reported that someone broke into his apartment and stole some pills from a medicine bottle.

Aug. 14
Present full of foam
1:10 p.m. — 1200 block of 13th Street.
Criminal Mischief. A woman told police that after she became engaged, a co-worker who had been pursuing her to no avail and bought a car for her, demanded the car back. The car, however only had her name on the title and her attorney said the car was legally hers. A day later, the woman noticed the interior of the car smelled and it was discovered a foam material was sprayed into the tailpipe to try and clog it up. Police couldn’t link the vandalism to the co-worker.

Library loitering
2:09 p.m. — 1300 block of First Street. Trespassing. A library security officer told police that the library wanted three people trespassed from the property.

For Daddy’s broken heart
7:11 p.m. — 500 block of Golden Gate Point. Criminal Mischief. A woman returned from a run and found a four-inch scratch on the front passenger side door of her car. She believes her ex-boyfriend’s daughter is the culprit.

Aug. 15
A good night’s sleep
2000 block of Bee Ridge Road.
Battery. Police responded to a fight and found a man lying on the ground, complaining of pain in his head. Bar employees told police the man fell asleep at the bar and had to be physically removed when he refused to go sleep somewhere else. The man was arrested after it was determined he assaulted a bar employee on the way out of the bar.
