SCORES: Manatee Bearcats win Slugfest

The Manatee Bearcats 10U travel baseball team won three straight games to capture the 5th Annual Florida Gulf Coast Slugfest Jan. 28-29 at Braden River Park.

It was the team’s first tournament championship.

After losing its first two games to the St. Petersburg Barricudas (3-1) and Team Xtreme (12-3), the Bearcats battled back from the last seed. Manatee defeated Team Xtreme 6-4, Suncoast Athletics 20-8 in bracket play before defeating The Wildcats 9-5 in the championship game.

Championship players include: Jake Hanson, Cameron Goudreau, Alen bass, Richie Morales, Austin Jenkins, Alex Denler, Kaden Steffen, Myles Kaitz, Noe Antuna, Devon Summerville, Justin Perry, Sam Martin, Fred D’Ariano and Connor O’Sullivan.
