About Last Night ...

I realize it’s been 10 days — an extremely BUSY 10 days, might I add — since I’ve updated you on Black Tie’s whereabouts.

Where has BT been? So far, the Historic Spanish Point Annual Luncheon, the SPARCC Second Hand Rose Fashion Show, Designing Women Boutique’s 10th anniversary cocktail party, the New College Foundation Gala, Friends of the Sarasota Ballet’s Showcase Luncheon, the Town Hall Lecture Series, Cooking for Wishes, the Ninth Annual Caring Hearts Luncheon and, last night, Goodwill’s Count Down to Mardi Gras.

Just before 6 p.m., I zipped myself into a brand new Gianni Bini red lace dress — picked out by a sales associate who, if you’ve ever seen the movie “Elf,” bears a striking resemblance to Zooey Deschanel — clicked my pointy yellow pumps together and was off to Michael’s On East, where I knew I was sure to find some pretty out-there costumes. Enter Rochelle Currey Nigri, Fifth Avenue Club consultant with Saks Fifth Avenue, whose hat made her so tall I continued having to take steps backward so I could capture her from head-to-toe in my camera lens.

Rochelle, a club consultant with Saks Fifth Avenue, volunteered to showcase the gala’s auction items and did in a majestic show-stopping getup rented from the Glass Slipper. She wore a Mardi Gras-themed pirate green-and-gold featured hat, a body suit adorned with gold sequins, a black-feathered boa wrapped at her hips to cover her derrière, black stockings and her own black Gucci platform pumps. And, to top it all off, the wow-factor of her costume were the winged three-inch feather lashes accenting her eyes.

Tonight BT will be at the Sarasota Exotic Car Fest’s Luxury Lifestyle Jet Port Reception, which takes place at 6:30 p.m., at Rectrix Aerodome Center. See you there!
