Ask Jason Champion about the latest trends in interior design, and he’ll tell you that gray is the new neutral.

Champion calls his family room look, which features furniture from Habitat for Humanity, artwork that has grown into a collection over the years and found objects from traveling, “mid century chic.”

“It’s an eclectic mix of high-end and creative budget products,” says Champion, the owner of Jason Champion Design. “Overall, my style is clean and comfortable with a little bit of funky.”

1. VASE
“This is a Moroccan-style yellow onyx vase from the 1940s.”

2. LAMP
“I picked this up in New York. It’s solid steel and has the human drawing figure used in all art classes.”

3. SOFA
“It’s a mid-century modern sofa for entertaining. You can seat seven people on it. It has the original fabric, but I’m going to reupholster it.”

4. PILLOW
“This is a silk pillow from West Elm. I like the Chinese fu dogs. It’s the one big bold pop of color in the room.”

5. RUG
“This is from the Mood Fabric shop in New York where Project Runway is filmed. I wanted texture that was free flowing and the odd piece in the room.”

6. CHEST
“This is like the one ‘found’ object. It shows somebody could have traveled. It’s the one piece that’s opposite of everything else — it’s sleek and contemporary.”
