Hillcroft notches overtime win in first Observer Cup

The Sarasota Polo Club completed the first of five 12-goal tournaments Feb. 26, with Hillcroft defeating M&I Wealth Management 11-10 in overtime in The Observer Cup.

M&I Wealth Management had a 9-3 lead at halftime, but Hillcroft slowly worked its way back into the game before tying the game at 10 with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

In overtime, James Miller scored on an open goal conversion, giving Hillcroft the victory. Hector Galindo was named the Most Valuable Player, while James P. Uihlein was named the Most Valuable Amateur. Jamie Mirikitani received the Best Playing Pony award for his pony Lily’s performance.

Teams will return to action at 1 p.m. March 4 in the Bright House Networks Presents the Wayne Brown Tournament.
