When Temple Emanu-El’s Lunch with the Rabbi program celebrated its second anniversary Jan. 4, Pelican Cove resident Marjorie Rosenthal made certain the occasion would be a special one.

An active member of Temple Emanu-El, Rosenthal has been a regular at Lunch with the Rabbi — a monthly event featuring casual socializing and discussion with Rabbi Brenner J. Glickman — since the program launched in January 2010. When Rosenthal learned the significance of Jan. 4’s installment of the series, she offered to donate a sheet cake — big enough to feed the 50 attendees — festively decorated in honor of Lunch with the Rabbi’s second “birthday.”

“The program is really worth celebrating,” Glickman said. “The response from our membership and people in the community just keeps growing. Margie really wanted to make the occasion special. She is just kind and generous through and through.”
