SCORES: Storm 98 softball team wins USSSA Snowball Classic

The Suncoast Storm 98 softball team went 7-0 to win the USSSA Snowball Classic Dec. 17-18 in Pembroke Pines.

The team, which played up in the 15U division, went 3-0 in pool play to earn the No. 1 seed. The Storm outscored its opponents 53-7, posting an 8-0 shutout in the championship game. It was the team’s fifth tournament championship of the year.

Caitlin Brown, Crystal Brown, Logan Newton, Bethany Keen, Denali Schappacher, Kylie Toler and Kaylee Misiti led the way offensively for the Storm. Newton and Madison Wallwork went undefeated on the mound.

The team will return to action in its first tournament of the year Jan. 21-22 at Lakewood Ranch Park.
