Rice earns Most Valuable Player honors in Band Weintraub Cup

Hillcroft/Regent defeated Ten Oaks/Rude Boy 11-10 in the Band Weintraub Cup Jan. 15, at The Sarasota Polo Club.

Stuart Campbell and Jamie Mirikitani each scored four goals to lead the way for Hillcroft/Regent. Shane Rice scored seven goals to lead the way for Ten Oaks/Rude Boy.

Rice also was named the cup’s Most Valuable Player. Cecilia Cochran was named the cup’s Most Valuable Amateur. Rice also was awarded the best-playing pony award for his pony’s performance in the fifth chukker.

Teams will return to action Jan. 22, for the Lakewood Ranch Dental Cup.


HANDICAP Registered polo players are rated on a scale from -2 to 10. The higher the number, the better the player.
