The 17th annual Jewels on the Bay Designer Showhouse opens its two newly renovated Bay Point Park houses to the public from Sunday Jan. 22, to Sunday, Feb. 19.

Thirty designers from the area donated their time to renovate the two houses and raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and Manatee counties.

The first renovated home is a two-story Craftsmen-style bungalow built in 1926, which had its second story built offsite and barged down the Sarasota Bay. This is especially unusual, considering most Craftsmen bungalows were built with one story. The renovation’s theme was inspired by the homeowners’ collection of Syd Solomon paintings.

The second is a 1950s ranch-style house, which was remodeled to be more functional, modern and fit a coastal theme. Renovations included repositioning the kitchen, enlarging the garage to accommodate two cars and increasing the size of the master bathroom.

Money raised from the tour will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee and Sarasota counties.
