11:47 a.m. — 1300 block of Main Street. Disorderly Conduct. A man causing a scene on Main Street accepted a ride to Sarasota Memorial Hospital so he could be evaluated.

More than he can chew?
2:43 a.m. — 2000 block of Main Street. Tampering with Evidence. A man who broke into someone’s home and stole $53 in cash was arrested and taken to jail. Police, however, couldn’t locate the cash that was placed on the hood of the car during the arrest, while the man was handcuffed and patted down. The money still can’t be located, and police wonder if the intoxicated man somehow ingested it.

10:39 a.m. — 900 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police that a $15,000 painting being sold in an upcoming auction was stolen from him. The man asked police to stop the auction from selling the painting. Police explained to the man he had no proof he owned the painting and no authority to stop the sale of the painting.
Outdoorsman
1 p.m. — 1200 block of First Street. Burglary. A restaurant owner released video to police showing a man entering a rear patio area and stealing 20 pieces of restaurant patio furniture.
Transfer service interrupted
5:18 p.m. — 1500 block of First Street. Trespassing. A security officer told police a woman began screaming at a bus driver when he refused to let her off the bus early to catch another bus.

Slam dancing
1 a.m. — 1400 block of Main Street. Battery. A man reported he was punched in the back of the head several times at a club.
Stuck in the middle
9:15 a.m. — 700 block of John Ringling Causeway. Disabled Vehicle. A car broke down in between two bridges, and police called a towing company to remove the car.

Common cents
11 a.m. — 1700 block of Main Street. Suspicious Person. A bank employee told police she witnessed a man urinating on the rear wall of the bank when she got to work.
Smoking skater
3:24 p.m. — 2100 block of Adams Lane. Suspicious Person. A skate-park manager told police he believes a man was smoking marijuana in the park and in the nearby bathroom.
That’s not cool
4 p.m. — 1700 block of Main Street. Patrol Request. A bank manager requested more patrols after he witnessed homeless people climbing a fence and hanging out around the bank’s air conditioners.

All washed up
8:06 a.m. — 800 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Abandoned Boat. A security guard reported a sailboat that washed up against a condominium dock due to the high winds of Tropical Storm Debby.
Gross graffiti
10 a.m. — 2000 block of Adams Lane. Criminal Mischief. A skate-park manager reported that someone smeared human feces on one of the park’s advertising banners overnight.
Trash to treasure
10:58 a.m. — 3200 block of Fruitville Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A man said he watched as two men in a pickup truck pulled over, threw his bike in the back and drove away. Police suggested that leaning his bicycle against a dumpster might have led the men to believe it was garbage and fair game for them to take.
