Manatee County's resident manatee, Snooty, is turning 64 years old and the South Florida Museum is counting on local children to help celebrate.

The museum, which has cared for Snooty nearly all of his life, is hosting Snooty's birthday card contest. Children ages preschool through sixth grade (through the 20111-2012 school year) are being asked to create birthday cards for Snooty, in preparation for Snooty's July 21 birthday bash.

To be judged, entries must include the child's name, home address, telephone number, age and school as of the 2011-2012 school year. Cards must be limited in size to an 8.5x11-inch, and must be submitted by 5 p.m. July 16.

Cards can be sent to: Snooty, PO Box 9265, Bradenton FL 34206; or delivered to South Florida Museum — Parker Manatee Aquarium, 201 10th Street W., Bradenton.

For more information, call 746-4131 Ext. 16.
