For the Sarasota ladies looking for something a little different from the traditional ladies’ night, Darwin’s on 4th has the perfect event on Thursdays. It begins with the unconventional and fun: a dance class. Focusing on a different style each week and lasting a full hour, everyone is welcome to learn some new steps. The evening continues with music from DJ Imminent, our local guarantee for a fun and danceable night. The traditional ladies’ night treat of free drinks happens from 9:30 until 10:30 p.m., and everyone can enjoy half-price wine and beers as well as a themed $2 specialty cocktail. This past Thursday, Darwin’s was packed with drinking, eating and dancing. Tables were full of friends enjoying Darwin’s innovative “urban street food” which, served on small plates tapas-style, is perfect for a fun night out. Sarasotans learned the art of Latin dance with Brenda Carter Marshall, and DJ Imminent kept the Latin tunes going for an entire themed night. This coming Thursday will feature a Salsa and Argentine Tango dance class with Albert Rombold of Tango & Salsa Dance Studio, beginning at 9 p.m. I personally loved sipping on my Marron Ale from the Darwin's microbrewery. The toasty, medium-bodied brown ale was the perfect accompaniment to the classy ladies’ night.
If you are a beer lover, Darwin’s also has a new Guys' Night happening every Tuesday, where you can enjoy two-for-one Darwin’s specialty crafted beers between 7 and 10 p.m. Darwin's beers are created in-house by Brewmaster Jared Barnes, and Veronica Pastore recommends trying his newest creation, Ayawasca, a Belgian Dubbel with flavors of bubblegum, caramel and toffee and a sweet finish. Every night is a good night for sampling the menu; dinner begins at 5 p.m. with live music Wednesday through Saturday nights. With a happy hour menu, a late night menu and innovative events, it’s always a good time to grab your friends and head to Darwin’s on 4th.
