Sarasota County on July 20, recommended Championship Landscape Maintenance Professionals to undertake maintenance of Siesta Key Village after it submitted a bid of $97,417.70 for an annual contract, according to documents obtained by the Pelican Press.

Sarasota County closed bidding July 11, after seven companies pitched prices ranging from $78,390 to $218,490 for a contract that was expected to yield costs of roughly $200,000. Three of the maintenance firms are based in Sarasota, two are in Bradenton, one has headquarters in Sorrento, and one operates out of Tampa.

Sarasota-based Championship Landscape Maintenance Professionals was not the lowest bidder on the request for proposal, which requires the company to keep the Village in “resort-style” condition. Max Power Washing Inc. submitted a bid of $78,390, but was considered non-responsible. “(The firm) did not supply all of the required qualifications and/or certifications,” documents said.

For more on the winning bidder and a timeframe on when it will begin much needed pressure washing of the Village, pick up a copy of July 26, issue of the Pelican Press.
