Sarasota Crew rowers win gold

Several members of the Sarasota Crew captured gold medals at the USRowing Club National Championships July 11-15 on the Cooper River in Camden County, N.J.

Nick Edwards, Chris Delaney, Tristan Waiss and James Niffenegger won the Men’s Junior B (17 and under) Quad boat.

Ben Delaney and Travis Taaffe finished second in the Men’s Junior A (19 and under) Double. Ben Delaney also teamed up with seven other rowers from South Norwalk, Conn., to win the Men’s Junior A 8+.

Taaffe and Hunter Leeming joined a pair of rowers from Montclair High School in New Jersey to win bronze in the Men’s Senior Quad.

On the women’s side, Allie Pitchford and Eliza Culp finished second in the Women’s Junior B Quad with two rowers from South Norwalk.

The Crew men’s team finished with 43.5 points while the Crew women’s team tallied six points.
