The Florida Department of Transportation started closing one lane on the Stickney Point Bridge at night during May and will end the closures tomorrow, said a spokeswoman for FDOT.

Construction crews are replacing wood pylons that support the guardrail on the north side of the bridge, the spokeswoman said. The timeline for the project is expected to end just as the north bridge (Siesta Drive) rehabilitation project begins this week. Nightly lane closures on the north bridge will begin Monday, June 11.

FDOT is currently only closing one westbound lane at night on the south bridge.

EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this story stated north and south Siesta Key bridge maintenance projects would overlap. However, the timeline for these projects are not expected to coincide.
