(Scroll down for a video of campers in action.)
Unicycles … triple trapeze … hoop stunts.
For our latest Camp Spotlight, The Observer dropped in on campers at Circus Sarasota and documented their rehearsal for the end-of-camp performance.
After hours spent perfecting their routines Friday, June 15, with camp counselors on-hand for spotting, high fives and a you-can-do-it attitude, everyone took a much-needed break and settled down for lunch.
CAMPER SPOTLIGHT
Emma Clarke talks about camp.
What’s your favorite thing about camp?
Doing the hula-hoop. We get to do different tricks and stuff. It’s really cool.
How long have you been coming to camp?
How long? Probably until 3:15.
Did you come last summer?
I didn’t come because I wasn’t old enough.
Do you want to be in the circus?
I really want to go on the trapeze.
Do you have to be a certain age?
Yeah, you have to be 12.
How old are you?
I’m six.
What’s been the coolest thing about camp?
Water day. It’s really fun. It’s where you get to go on the slide.
Do you go swimming?
Yeah. I swim a lot. Yesterday I had a meet. I got third place.
Do you like your camp counselors?
Yeah. They’re really, really, really nice. And we had three birthdays yesterday.
