Surprised in slumber
6:44 a.m. — 1600 block of Main Street. Trespassing. Police found a woman sleeping in the rear doorway of a church. The woman, who was new to the area, she said, was homeless. After officers spoke with her, she left with three tote bags full of personal belongings.
Just too tempting
8 a.m. — 1700 block of South Tamiami Trail. Theft. A nurse reported that a co-worker had stolen money from her at a hospital. She told police she had $400 in her purse when she went to get a female co-worker a cup of coffee. Later, the nurse found the money missing; she said she suspected her co-worker had taken it, because the co-worker saw the money and always was complaining how broke she was. Police planned to investigate.
Chatting … with himself
11:58 p.m. — 1400 block of Main Street. Dispute. A bartender told police he wanted a man to leave, because the man wasn’t ordering any drinks. Instead, the man was making customers feel uncomfortable by talking to himself. The man agreed to leave.

Guilty of a Rasta look?
10:11 a.m. — 800 block of Cocoanut Avenue. Suspicious Person. Theater employees reported that a man with dreadlocks was acting suspiciously in the parking lot. Police located the man, who promised never to return to the area.
Feb. 24
You’ve been warned
2500 block of South Tamiami Trail. Dispute. A man called police to report that the husband of a woman with whom he was having an affair had come to his hotel room, while he was in bed with her, and threatened to kill him.
Feb. 26
No longer welcome
4:33 p.m. — 1300 block of South Tamiami Trail. Trespassing. A drunken man was talking to himself inside a coffee shop and acting rude to customers, according to a report. Police trespassed him from the property for a year.
More costly than the gas
5:30 p.m. — 3500 block of Fruitville Road. Crash. A pickup truck was pulling into a service station when it hit the overhead lights, which were attached to part of the roof’s overhang. The driver was not cited, however, because no signs were attached to the building to warn motorists of the gas station’s roof height.
Sherlock Holmes, he’s not
10:01 p.m. — 1000 block of Boulevard of the Arts. Trespassing. A woman told police a man was acting strangely near a hotel. He told police he was looking for his bike.

No ordinary door hanger
7:53 a.m. — 100 block of South Pineapple Avenue. Suspicious Circumstance. A church employee handed over to police officers a plastic bag he had found on a church door. It contained coupons, a map of Sarasota — and a note card with instructions on how to assassinate Sen. John McCain.
Daddy issues
12:50 p.m. — 2000 block of Main Street. Family Dispute. Two women engaged in a fistfight after arguing about the father of their children, who was serving time in jail. Neither woman wanted to press charges.
That looks familiar
1:24 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. Two women got into a fight over jewelry after one of the woman realized that a necklace her friend was trying to sell belonged to her.
Going, going, gone
8:35 p.m. — 1900 block of Main Street. Theft. A woman told police someone had stolen her $75 bicycle.
