After raising more than $15,000 at a recent walk-a-thon fundraiser, students at Gullett Elementary School joyously threw wet sponges at their teachers Thursday as a reward for their accomplishment.

Each class met its fundraising goal, qualifying students for the prized sponge-throwing event and helping them to surpass the school's original $10,000 goal.

Students also were eager to see the school's mascot, Chompy, on the roof, as well as Principal Kathy Hayes, as part of the reward, as well.
