Lakewood Ranch High senior center fielder Zack Larson went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and five RBIs to help lead the Mustangs to a 16-4 district victory over Largo March 9. Here is an inside look at this week’s Athlete of the Week.

What does it mean to you to be able to help your team so much this early in the season?
It means a lot. My main goal is to get to the state championship, and everyone is just doing his part to get there.

How long have you been playing baseball?
Since I was 4 years old. I started playing in my grandparents’ backyard. They would throw me balls, and I would hit them.

What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
It’s not over until it’s over. It always changes.

Would you rather be in the field or at the plate?
At the plate. I like helping my team out, and it’s fun.

Do you have a favorite baseball player?
Dustin Pedroia. He’s tiny, and no one thought he had a chance, but now he’s one of the best second basemen in the MLB.

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
Something having to do with sports management or sports medicine

Do you have any siblings?
I have a younger brother, Max, who is 11 years old.

Do you have a favorite subject in school?
Math. I find it interesting.

Who is your biggest role model?
My parents. They are here for me every day, and if I need something, they always help me out.

Do you have a favorite movie?
“Project X.” It’s hilarious.

If you could play another sport for a day, what would it be?
Volleyball. I play every now and then with my friends at the beach, and we have a great time.

What’s your favorite food?
Beef stroganoff

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Italy. I like Italian food, and I want to see what it’s like.
