March 1
Welcome mat withdrawn
5:45 p.m. — 1400 block of 10th Street. Disorderly Conduct. A woman told police that another woman “was on something and acting crazy” inside The Salvation Army facility. Police located the woman, who was extremely rude, officers reported, and told her she was not welcome at the center. Police officers said they didn’t believe she got the message, because she seemed to be under the influence of some sort of narcotic.

Not thinking clearly
4:56 a.m. — 1700 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. A hospital garage security guard reported that a woman found lying on the third floor of the garage was taken into the hospital for treatment. However, she left and went back to her car in the garage. She finally agreed to treatment after telling police she had hit her head earlier and had had “a few too many drinks.”

March 3
Some security!
3:27 a.m. — Intersection of State Street and Lemon Avenue. Battery. A man told police that while he was looking for his car in a parking lot, a man wearing a black T-shirt, with the word “Security” on the back, punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground. The manager of a nearby bar said he wasn’t sure whether the suspect was one of his bouncers.

Demolition derby disrupted
10:13 p.m. — 3000 block of Ringling Boulevard. Family Dispute. A security guard reported two men in a black convertible driving erratically through the Robarts Arena parking lot. When the guard attempted to confront the driver, after watching the car weave in and out of the area where several motor homes were parked, he said the car sped off.

Duped driver
11:08 p.m. — 1800 block of Main Street. Theft. A man told police he was driving home from a bar, accompanied by a woman, when she jumped out of his moving vehicle on Main Street. He said she started walking away with her ex-husband. When the man arrived home, he discovered his wallet and cell phone were gone.

March 4
The party’s over
4:22 a.m. — 1000 bock of Boulevard of the Arts. Trespassing. A hotel employee told police that a woman who had attended a wedding reception refused to leave and ended up falling asleep in the lobby. Police called her a cab and escorted her off the property.

Right place, wrong time
3:39 p.m. — Intersection of North Tamiami Trail and University Parkway. Police located a man who had been accused of panhandling at the intersection of University Parkway and Tamiami Trail. The man denied the wrongdoing, but he admitted to having panhandled at the intersection in the past. He was told to leave and complied.

Wild and crazy night
5:07 p.m. — 4800 block of North Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman complained that she just had checked into a hotel when she saw several people “walking around with needles in their arms and smoking crack.” Police couldn’t find the drug party she had described.

March 5
An even wilder night
3:10 a.m. — 1300 block of Main Street. Found Property. Police found a woman’s black high heel, with sunglasses and a house key inside it, on Main Street. They placed it into evidence.

And away it went
6:45 p.m. — 1500 block of Main Street. Theft. A man told police someone had stolen his maroon bicycle while he was working. It was valued at $200.

March 6
Find a new place to shop
9 a.m. — 1400 block of First Street. Trespassing. A grocery store employee pointed out a man in the store who had been arrested in January for shoplifting. Police trespassed the man from the property for one year.

In a big hurry
9:34 a.m. — 100 block of South Orange Avenue. Criminal Mischief. A law firm employee reported that someone had broken a parking-gate arm at the entry to the parking lot on the north side of his building.

You did what?
12:30 p.m. — 1400 block of First Street. Civil Dispute. A man told police that when a woman asked him for money to buy a pack of cigarettes, he gave her his ATM card and told her his pin number, so she could get money at a nearby ATM. He couldn’t believe it later, he said, when he discovered the woman had taken $60 from his account. Police couldn’t believe the man was surprised she had taken advantage of him.

Not your average break-up
4:40 p.m. — 1900 block of Main Street. Harassing Phone Calls. A woman told police that her boyfriend of one year had broken up with her over the phone by making threats and passing the phone around to his co-workers, so they could make fun of her. Police gave her restraining-order instructions and advised her to call for a police officer to be present when she was ready to give the ex-boyfriend his belongings.

That’s what rudeness gets you
6:28 p.m. — 1800 block of South Tamiami Trail. Battery. Police observed a man standing outside the driver’s door of a car, hitting the driver repeatedly, near a service station. The driver told police his friend had gone berserk when he had told him to get out of the car, because he was harassing the driver’s two female companions in the back seat. The friend was arrested for battery and taken
to jail.
