It’s that time of year again. Beginning Friday, the aromas of funnel cakes and barbecue and the sounds of carnival rides, bluegrass music and a plethora of performers will fill the air in Sarasota.
The Sarasota County Fair opens its gates at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, to mark its 76th anniversary. This 10-day event features carnival rides, games, live entertainment, crafts, horticulture, a science fair, livestock and an auction.
In addition to providing Sarasota with a fun family-friendly outing, the annual county fair also provides an opportunity for aspiring rancheros to check out local farmers’ livestock and produce.
This year, the Cracker Land stage is back outdoors, and daily, live bluegrass bands will be sure to keep guests tapping their feet. Other entertainment includes 4H exhibits and competitions, whip-cracking contests and more.
Fan favorites, such as Rosaire’s Racing Pigs, Galaxy Girl, magician Ron Diamond and the Frisco Tiger Show all will be available to astound and entertain guests throughout this year’s fair.
The proceeds from the fair go toward promoting the 4H and the FFA.
