Siesta Key will become a field of pastel fun as children grab their baskets for the annual Siesta Key Village Easter Egg Hunt April 7.

Helene Hyland and her committee of volunteers have been working hard to make sure the day is picture perfect. Festivities begin 9 a.m. and continue until noon, at Beach Access No. 5 at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Beach Road.

This year’s hunt will feature 750 eggs filled with prizes donated by Siesta Key Village merchants. The eggs will be divided into different age groups, so every child will go home with a full basket, Hyland said.

In addition to the hunt, guests will have a chance to grab a photo with the Easter Bunny, hop aboard a fire truck and ambulance, and sneak a peak at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office mounted patrol. Festivities also will include games, face painting and more.

Families are urged to park in the public beach parking lot, where a free trolley service will take you to Siesta Village. Attendees must register your child for the hunt at www.siestakeyvillage.org. Children ages 1 to 6 are welcome to participate in the hunt. Tickets cost $10. Call 349-2770.
