Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight Tuesday, March 27, recognized the 2011 Employees of the Year.
Detective Mike Dumer was honored as Law Enforcement Deputy of the Year for being a valuable asset to the Criminal Investigations Section. Dumer lead the investigation into a series of attacks on women, which ultimately led to the arrest and conviction of Delmer Smith in December.
Steven Mersinger was recognized as Corrections Deputy of the Year for demonstrating professionalism in his daily activities at the Sarasota County Jail.
Operator Kristen Davidson was named Public Safety Communications Emergency Medical & Fire Dispatcher of the Year. Davidson was honored for demonstrating outstanding performance, including scoring a 99.99% on all calls reviewed by the Quality Improvement Unit.
Linda Pete Jenkins was named Civilian of the Year. Jenkins took on additional tasks and performed at a high level as Secretary for the Office of Professional Standards. In addition to updating and maintaining the agency’s General Orders, she assists Information Technology and Human Resources in managing new asset inventory and performance management systems.
Sheriff Knight said, “In an agency with nearly 1,000 dedicated employees, it is difficult to distinguish yourself, but these men and women have performed exemplary service and it is an honor to recognize them for their hard work.”
