SunCoast Storm continues winning ways

The SunCoast Storm 14U travel team improved its record to 54-7 with a pair of tournament victories.

On April 14-15, the Storm won the Clearwater Spring Fling Challenge Tournament, which featured 14 teams in the 14U division. After falling to the Tampa Mustangs, who were ranked No. 1 in the state, the Storm went on to win six straight games, including a 6-3 victory over the Mustangs in the championship game.

Myah Moy, Maddie Biggs, Bethaney Kee and Kinsey Goelz all batted over .400 to lead the way for the Storm at the plate. Kaylee Misiti finished with 10 RBIs and pitchers Logan Newton and Sylivia Welsh both contributed to the Storm’s tournament title.

On April 28-29, the Storm won the USSSA Insanity Tournament, which had 22 teams in the 14U division.

The team won five straight games against solid north Florida teams before losing in the winners bracket final. The Storm battled back through the losers bracket to reach the championship game where they beat the team they lost to earlier in the tournament twice.

The Storm won 6-5 and 1-0 to win their fourth consecutive tournament title and seventh of the season.

Goelz and Madison Wallwork both batted above .500 for the tournament and Kylie Toler, Caitlin Brown, Jamie Boone, Misiti and Keen all batted above .400.
