Sarasota teachers, School Board reach agreement

→ The Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association and the School Board of Sarasota County agreed on a contract for the next school year.

All dogs placed with local rescue organizations

→ All dogs found in a Venice home last week and treated by Sarasota County Animal Services have been placed with rescue organizations.

Last week an animal hoarding investigation of a Venice home discovered 263 dogs, many of which were in bad condition. Sarasota County Animal Services has medically treated the animals, and now all dogs have been placed with various rescue organizations.

Commission to appoint board members tonight

→ The commission will make appointments to four town boards at tonight's regular meeting.

The Longboat Key Town Commission will appoint members for the town’s Planning & Zoning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Code Enforcement Board and Citizens Oversight Tax Committee at its regular meeting tonight.

The town received six applications for P&Z Board seats; four ZBA applications; three CEB applications; and three COTC applications.
