The Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association and the School Board of Sarasota recently reached an agreement on a contract for the upcoming school year that includes a 3% bonus for most employees, according to an organization spokesman.

The bonus will go to employees that aren’t slated to receive a tenure-based bonus for the 2012-2013 school year, which is awarded every two years after and employee’s tenth year until their twenty eighth year with the district. Administrators aren’t currently included in that group, but the spokesman said they may get a similar pay increase.

The contract, which now requires approval from the School Board and employee ratification, also decreased the number of days new aides can work from 196 to 186. This will apply to aides hired after July 1.
