April 26
Problem marks the spot
11:30 a.m. — 500 block of Dream Island Road. Boat. Police contacted the maintenance supervisor of a private channel after noticing that the day-channel markers were in disrepair.

Fender bender
4:48 p.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and North Shore Road. Property Damage. After receiving a call about roadway debris, police found several pieces of a Nissan’s bumper and a traffic sign lying in the dirt with its post broken.

April 28
Duck duty
7:43 a.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Animal Rescue. Police rescued eight ducklings trapped in a swimming pool and turned them over to a wildlife agency. The ducklings’ mother hadn’t been seen for several days.

REGISTRATION PROCESS
9:31 a.m. — 400 block of GMD. Boat. Two community board members called police to report a boat parked at their dock. Police found the boat to be in violation and wrote to the board president, asking him to contact them about registration.

April 29
Canine campout
8:06 a.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road. Camping. Police warned two men and a woman with a dog, who, according to a turtle patroller, had arrived on the beach about 5 a.m. and had set up a tent. Town ordinances prohibit all three humans from being on the beach between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., however, canines are prohibited at all times.

VIDEO VOYEUR?
8:07 p.m. — 6600 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. A woman reported that a suspicious man was walking toward her home from the beach but turned around after she let her dog out. The man then walked up to the woman’s neighbor’s house and appeared to be looking in windows and taking video. Police found footprints leading from the woman’s home to the beach but weren’t able to find the man.

April 30
UNLucky numbers
4:32 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD. Disturbance. After a disagreement about lottery tickets with two cashiers, a man told police that he was shorted $10 at a convenience store. The clerks both told police that the man became agitated because he wanted his lottery numbers on one page instead of 10 individual pages. The man said that he would provide a written statement but has yet to do so.

April 28
Boating breakdown
8:27 a.m. — Off the Key. Boat. Police helped the crew of a boat to free the vessel after it ran aground in a channel but then told them to call a towing company after it ran aground again.

May 1
Fanning the flames
1:12 p.m. — 700 block of Jungle Queen Way. Fire. Firefighters told police that a contractor was making home repairs, turned on an exhaust fan before leaving a room and returned to find that the fan had caught fire. The contractor put out the fire and removed the exhaust fan.

DON’T WASTE YOUR ENERGY
2:21 p.m. — 500 block of Putter Lane. Soliciting. A man reported that an unknown person was leaving door hangers on homes in his neighborhood to solicit business for an energy-conservation company. Police contacted a customer-service representative who said that she would contact the canvassing firm the company hired to tell them to stop distributing pamphlets on the Key.

May 2
SLEEPER STEAL
1:19 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Larceny from Public Property. A woman told police that her beach bag was taken after she left it next to her husband, who had fallen asleep. The bag contained $4,500 worth of jewelry and a $300 camera. Police and a maintenance worker searched the motel property where the couple was staying but were unable to find the bag.

April 29
GETTING GRILLED
4:51 p.m. — Longboat Drive South and Linley Street. Fire. Police and firefighters responded to a report of an unattended grill fire but found several people sitting in their driveway a few feet away from the grill. Police determined that no violation occurred.
