The MillerBrady Fine Art Gallery will host a grand opening reception to showcase its collection of contemporary minimalist original paintings and glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) framed works of art. Local artist Jake Brady and artist/business partner Eric Miller are lifelong friends who formed MillerBrady to share their artistic voices with the world. The duo has created a new genre of contemporary art by using mediums of GFRC and pigmented polyurethane, crafting abstract pieces perfectly fit for the modern-minded home and business owner.
Miller states his method is to mix his own paints, controlling the color, opacity and viscosity in such a way that he can manipulate each layer (up to 12) of the painting. “I work closely with Jake to study each piece before applying the final layer and water-clear finish. Then Jake creates a custom GFRC frame to complete the work.”
A resident of Sarasota for 20 years Jake Brady was previously a tile contractor with a deep range of construction and technical engineering skills. In 2008, Brady launched Concrete Countertops Etc. (CCE) in Sarasota and began using his design talent to manufacture one-of-kind countertops, sinks, planters, and tabletops for residential and commercial outlets. CCE recently designed and installed the massive one-piece bar top at State Street Eating House.
The 2012 MillerBrady collection will feature several original works depicting landscapes and sea imagery in varying sizes. Both Miller and Brady will be in attendance to discuss the individual works. All pieces will be for sale.
