Pauley to leave Braden River

→ The school board is expected to approve the appointment of Braden River High School Principal Jim Pauley to director of secondary education May 14.

MANATEE COUNTY — Walking from his office, Braden River Hig/h School Principal Jim Pauley paused in front of a picture hanging in the hallway.

Signed by faculty members, it depicts a train crawling slowly over a bridge made of people.

“It’s everybody working together,” Pauley said of what the picture represents to him. “Everybody has talent.”

Commission wants 'interim' taken out of manager's title

→ The Town Commission considers options for entering into a long-term agreement with Town Manager David Bullock.

The word “interim” has been hovering around David Bullock’s town manager title since October when the Longboat Key Town Commission approved his contract.

But the word could soon be a thing of the past.

Vice Mayor David Brenner suggested at the end of the Monday, May 7, regular meeting that the commission drop the word and enter into a more permanent agreement with Bullock.

County will aid firm relocation

→ The Sarasota Board of County Commissioners approved $124,000 of funding to help a company move to the area.

The Sarasota Board of County Commissioners approved a four-year grant of $124,000 to help an unnamed company relocate to the area with a 4-1 vote at today’s commission meeting.

Jeff Maultsby, manager of business and economic development with the county, presented details of the firm’s relocation, a project that is currently discussed using the code name “Project Pineapple.” The move is expected to ... [click here to read on!]
