Longboat Key property values dipping again

→ Longboat Key taxable values are dropping again, but preliminary estimates show the dip is much less than the previous four years.

Taxable values will drop for the fifth year in a row on Longboat Key this year, although they aren’t dropping near as much as in past years.

Key-wide, Longboat Key Finance Director Tom Kelley estimates a 1.5% to 3% decrease in property values this year.

Meetings set for school rebuild

→ The Sarasota County School District will hold meetings next week to collect public input about plans to rebuild Sarasota High School.

Sarasota County School District officials will hold public meetings on Wednesday, June 6, and Thursday, June 7, for opinions on the Sarasota High School rebuild project.

The first meeting is an informational public forum school district representatives will use to get feedback on designs for the new campus. Parents, public officials, business leaders and any stakeholders in the project are encouraged to participate in the forum, which includes overviews of cost control and the renovation of the minimalist building designed by architect Paul Rudolph in the 1950s ...
