+ Sailors finish fourth at Class 3A state meet
The Sarasota High boys cross-country team finished fourth at the Class 3A Cross-Country Meet Nov. 17, in Tallahassee.
Zackery Summerall finished 14th in 16:00.28 to pace the Sailors. Courtland Bernard finished 18th in 16:03.37, and Adam Bradtmueller was 28th in 16:12.86.
Angelina Grebe finished 16th in 19:01.39 to lead the Lady Sailors who finished 13th overall.
+ Riverview blanks North Port in district action
The Riverview High girls soccer team improved to 4-2 on the season with a 3-0 victory over North Port in district action Nov. 14.
Senior Kasey Gamble scored the Lady Rams’ first goal off an assist by junior Katy Mixon. In the second half, Kj Davidson-Turner scored a pair of goals off of assists by Mixon and Madison Buscemi.
Goalkeeper Stephanie Tabar recorded four saves before turning the net over to Gamble who had three saves.
Riverview returns to action tomorrow night at Palm Harbor University.
+ Thunder posts back-to-back shutouts
The Out-of-Door Academy boys soccer team defeated Admiral Farragut Academy 2-0 Nov. 14.
Bryan Kirshe scored one goal, and Brandon Place scored the Thunder’s second goal off an assist from Kirshe.
The Thunder followed up its shutout with a 4-0 victory over Northside Christian Nov. 15.
Tait Lystad and Place each had one goal, and Kirshe had two goals. Owen Han had four saves.
+ Blazers top Pirates in overtime play
The Sarasota Christian School boys basketball team defeated Braden River 83-80 in overtime of a Preseason Classic game Nov. 11, at Cardinal Mooney.
Henry Ford led the Blazers with 31 points. Blake Morrow had 24 points and Sean Kerrigan added 10 points.
Zacheriah Kendall and Trevon Young led the Pirates with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
+ Cardinal Mooney roars past Manatee
The Cardinal Mooney High boys basketball team cruised to a 69-32 victory over Manatee in a Preseason Classic game Nov. 11.
Jamie Glasser had 13 points, and Trip Knapp added 10 points for the Cougars. Parker DelMedico added 10 points and nine steals.
+ Lady Cougars shut out Lady Rams
The Cardinal Mooney girls soccer team defeated Riverview 3-0 Nov. 13.
Rose Amato scored a pair of goals and an assist to lead the way for the Lady Cougars. Sarah Quick also added a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Sarah Donofrio had 11 saves. Cardinal Mooney returns to action tonight, at Lemon Bay.
+ Lady Thunder strike down on Lady Bruins
The Out-of-Door Academy girls soccer team cruised to an 8-0 season-opening victory over Bayshore Nov. 13.
Skylar Junger and Katie Lang each scored two goals to lead the way for the Lady Thunder.
Kim Comito, Emily Camire and Juliet Onufrak each had one goal and one assist. Brittany Wenger added one goal, and Carly Hunter had one assist. Junger also had one assist. Goalkeeper Abby Bannar had five saves.
+ Booker tops Bradenton Christian
The Booker High boys soccer team defeated Bradenton Christian 4-1 Nov. 13.
Solomon Etienne scored a pair of goals to lead the way for the Tornadoes. Brandon Renteria and Eric Rundle each had one goal.
+ Walton’s goal leads Rams to victory
The Riverview High boys soccer team improved to 4-0 (2-0) with a 1-0 district victory over North Port Nov. 14.
Robbie Walton scored the lone goal of the match. Goalkeeper Sam Morrison had two saves.
+ Sarasota High edges past Lakewood Ranch
The Sarasota High boys soccer team defeated Lakewood Ranch 4-3 Nov. 14.
Ian Grubb had two goals and one assist, and Scott Pierce scored a pair of goals to lead the way for the Sailors.
+ ODA girls remain perfect
Skylar Junger scored four goals and had two assists to lead The Out-of-Door Academy girls soccer team to an 8-0 victory over Admiral Farragut Nov. 14.
Elena Caiccio had three goals and one assist. Katie Lang scored ODA’s other goal. Melanie Mason had two assists. Goalkeeper Abby Bannar had one save and one assist.
