The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

Nov. 12
Bike reunion
8:34 a.m. — 6600 block of Second Avenue N.E.
Recovered Property. Unknown person(s) stole a bike Aug. 12. The bike, which was believed to have been used during a burglary in the area, was found Nov. 12. The owner of the bike was alerted to its reappearance.

Nov. 14
Runaways
7:49 p.m. — 4300 block of 56th Avenue Drive E. 
Runaways. A mother enrolled her two daughters into a family resource program, where they were to stay for seven to 14 days. Employees with the program dropped the two girls off at their high school Oct. 23. When the employees went to pick the girls up at the end of the day, the two students never arrived. After the mother was informed of the situation, she asked the program if they filed a missing-persons report. Employees with the program said it was up to the mother to do so. The mother contacted the Manatee County Sherriff’s Office and told them her two daughters have a history of behavior problems and have run away from home in the past — though they always return. According to the mother, the girls were upset with being enrolled in the family resource program. It is unknown what the girls were wearing.

Nov. 15
Bag picked up
3:39 p.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. 
Theft $300 to $5,000 from Building. A woman reported her handbag was stolen from a nightclub/bar.

Nov. 18
Worthless theft
10:18 a.m. — 6700 block of 88th Street E.
Burglary Unoccupied Conveyance Unarmed. An unknown person(s) entered some unlocked vehicles and stole items valued at $10. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.

No charge
5:11 p.m. — 11200 block of State Road 70 E. Trespass Warning. A woman was caught shoplifting at a supermarket. The complainant didn’t want to press charges but instead issued a trespass warning to the woman.

Nov. 19
Alarmed burglar
12:00 a.m.—6800 block of Stone River Road. 
Burglary of Unoccupied Dwelling, Unarmed. A woman reported that unknown person(s) tried to break into her home by prying open the front window. The suspect(s) damaged the window screen and set off the home’s alarm. The suspect(s) then fled in an unknown direction after his/her failed attempt.

Wood he do that?
5:04 p.m. — 6500 block of Coopers Hawk Court. Information Only. A woman reported that her two juvenile sons were asked to leave the property of a man. The neighbor accused the juveniles of entering his property. He then threatened them with a piece of wood. The woman reported that the neighbor said he would hurt the juveniles with the wood. Upon further investigation, it appeared the neighbor did tell the juveniles to approach him and that the neighbor did not go after them with a piece of wood.

3:37 p.m. — 5310 block of 53rd Avenue E. Theft $300 to $5,000. Unknown suspect(s) stole a newspaper rack valued at $500.

… Paper chaser
5:51 p.m. — 900 block of N Rye Road. Information Only. An anonymous caller found two abandoned newspaper racks on the side of the road. Two similar newspaper racks were reported stolen that morning. An officer attempted to retrieve fingerprints on both racks but could not. The racks will be analyzed.

Nov. 20
Lost call
6:47 p.m. — 4200 block of 61st Avenue E.
 Lost Property. A woman said she lost her cell phone at a park. She said she put her phone down, became distracted, and left it behind. She went back to look for her phone, but it was missing.
