+ It’s a wrap!
If you’re wondering what went down at the 2012 Key to the Cure Kick Off, BT has the scoop! In less than 45 minutes, all 400 keys — which had a greater than 8% chance of winning prizes ranging in value to more than $3,000 — were sold. The goal for the key sale was $20,000, but several entrepreneurial folks, such as Margaret Wise and Gwen MacKenzie — resold their keys. Nearly 700 people attended the event. The owner of the pink beach cruiser from Ryder Bikes had five offers to buy it before he left the store, but he refused them because he was giving the bike to his niece, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The guest who won the Skinsmart Dermatology basket, valued at $1,200, just celebrated her one-year cancer-free anniversary. She was treated at SMH. The guest who left prior to the grand-prize drawing and was holding the winning key for Casa Mariposa on Siesta Key was Penny Hill, who co-chaired CANDance Saturday. The donor of the villa was Bambi Famous Kaine, who danced in and won People’s Choice Award. “Penny texted me as soon as she got home and opened her bag, saw her grand prize letter, and realized what had happened,” said KTTC Co-Chairwoman Allison Silver Schwartz. “She has my number because I was a dancer in CANDance last year and because she is our mortgage broker!”

+ Dennis Stover receives a birthday surprise
Phil King told his partner, Dennis Stover, that they were going to Hyatt Regency Sarasota to meet financial adviser Don Schofield, here on his biannual visit from Indianapolis. Instead, they met 80 of their nearest and dearest, who were gathered poolside to surprise Stover on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

+ Tidbits …
Save the last dance … Allison Silver Schwartz roamed the Michael’s On East Courtyard for what was surely a couple of hours trying to purchase a two-minute dance lesson from one of the professional CANDance dancers. A disappointed Schwartz said she had asked everyone, but the lessons were sold out. Later that evening Schwartz was seen twirling around the dance floor …

Thai time …
Pam and Lyn Wiley were breaking it down on the dance floor, when Lyn paused to talk about his wife’s “fantastic and famous ensemble hand-painted by seven virgins.” Pam corrected her husband, saying it was hand-woven, not hand-painted. “Well, it was hand-woven by seven virgins, then,” Lyn joked …

Winner, winner, chicken dinner … When Bambi Famous Kaine, who won this year’s CANDance competition, saw a photo of her husband, Jeff, wearing an extremely furry white top hat, she called him “Dr. Seuss” …

Where’s Weintraub? … Anne Weintraub was incognito before the actual competition began. Unlike the rest of the female contestants, who all seemed to be donning shades of red that evening, those on the lookout for Weintraub were unable to locate her, for quite some time due to the fact that she was sporting black from head to toe. She also reported that she had 34 dance lessons prior to the competition …

Grrrrr! CAN Director of Development Scott George was going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny, but when he paused for a moment outside, BT discovered his tiger shoes! In case you were wondering, Scott didn’t buy them, but made them via needlepoint …

So in love … Roger and Alisa Pettingell celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary Saturday …
