+ Lady Thunder earn tournament berth
The No. 3 seed Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team defeated No. 2 seed Cardinal Mooney 15-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16, in a Class 3A-District 10 semifinal Oct. 23.
With the win, the Lady Thunder earned a berth in the regional tournament.
Natalie Buffett paced the Lady Thunder with 16 kills. Gabriella Costa had 10 kills and five blocks. Lauren Maxey added eight kills. Haley Preininger had 20 assists.
ODA will face No. 1 seed St. Stephen’s at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the district championship.
+ Lady Blazers take win during Senior Night
The Sarasota Christian School volleyball team rebounded to defeat The Out-of-Door Academy 18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22 Oct. 16, on Senior Night.
Gabriella Costa finished with eight kills and four blocks to pace the Lady Thunder (10-8, 3-3). Sam Albano had nine perfect passes and nine digs. Emma Henson added nine perfect passes and seven digs.

The Out-of-Door Academy volleyball team defeated the Tampa Bay HEAT 25-17, 23-25, 25-11, 25-21 Oct. 18 on Senior Night.
Gabriella Costa finished with 15 kills and five blocks to pace the Lady Thunder. Haley Preininger had 26 assists and 12 digs. Natalie Rodriguez had 23 assists and four aces and Sam Albano finished with 14 digs and 10 perfect passes. Seniors Emily Greenwood and Audra Pack also played in their final home match for ODA.
+ ODA rolls past SW Florida Christian
The Out-of-Door Academy football team rolled to a 52-16 victory over Southwest Florida Christian in its homecoming game Oct. 19.
Brandon Place scored a pair of touchdowns on a 17-yard pass from quarterback Evan Wilson and a 16-yard pass.
Wilson connected with J.T. Fischer for a 46-yard touchdown and later threw a 71-yard strike to Austin Hoppe. Wilson ran in Thunder’s sixth touchdown on a quarterback sneak.
Second-string quarterback Dillon Cramer scored the Thunder’s final touchdown on a quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter.
ODA returns to district action Oct. 26, versus First Baptist Academy.
+ Sarasota Crew 4+ squad wins gold
The Sarasota Crew Men’s Youth 4+ won the 48th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta Oct. 19 to Oct. 20, in Boston for the second-consecutive season.
The team of Ryan Hails, Ben Delaney, Travis Taaffe, Andrew Konecny and coxswain Grant Golub won the 85-team race in 16:40.153.
The Crew’s Women’s Youth 4+ team of Christina Felix, Katie DiVicenzo, Katie Molinari, Cassidy Marryott and coxswain Chloe Swatek finished 32nd out of 81 competitors, improving nine places from last year.
The Crew’s Women’s 8+ team of Devin Norder, Shawna Sims, Kate Flanders, Dale Main, Kierstin Luginbill, Christina Warren, Allie Pitchford, Eliza Culp and coxswain Emily Goff finished 54th out of 84 teams.
The Crew returns to action in the 13th annual Halloween Regatta Oct. 27, in Tampa. More than 200 Crew rowers will participate in the regatta, which features teams from across the state of Florida.
+ Sarasota Scullers bring home 11 medals
The Sarasota Scullers captured 11 medals at the Head of the Indian Creek Regatta Oct. 14 in Miami Beach.
