The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

Aug. 25
Plan B
8:41 a.m. ­— 43100 block of Bradley Road.
Resisting/Obstructing an Officer. A man showed up drunk at a female acquaintance’s house and drove his rental vehicle into a ditch. He was allowed to stay overnight at the home, where he continued to drink vodka and refused to leave. Deputies offered the man the option of a ride home or being arrested for trespassing. The man walked outside but then sat down on a front porch chair and said he wasn’t leaving. Seeing that the man had chosen the second option, deputies told him to place his hands behind his back. Deputies stood the man up and escorted him to the patrol vehicle.

Aug. 30
Case of the blues
6:30 p.m. — 6400 block of S.R. 64 East.
Found Property. A customer found a spoon with an unknown blue substance on it in the men’s bathroom of a convenience store.

Repeat offender
9:41 p.m. — 6500 block of Copper Ridge Trail. DUI. EMS responded to a vehicle idling at an intersection with the driver passed out behind the wheel. Deputies found that the driver’s license was permanently revoked for prior DUIs and that the tag of the vehicle was expired. The driver was taken to jail.

Aug. 31
Grounded twice
7:55 p.m. — 10900 block of Bullrush Terrace. 
Battery. A man pushed his wife into the bushes in front of his home when she showed up with her new boyfriend to pick up their kids. The boyfriend threw the man to the ground twice. The husband was arrested and taken to jail.

Hose heist
11:52 a.m. — 4000 block of Third Avenue East. Criminal Mischief. A man found his pool cage screen slashed and said that he is having problems with his next-door neighbors using his hose because their water is turned off.

Sept. 2
Drinking daze
7:11 p.m. — 6500 block of Flycatcher Lane.
Domestic Disturbance. A man and a woman, who have been in a relationship for two years, had a party, drank alcohol throughout the day and got into a disagreement. The woman said that she felt threatened but couldn’t articulate why and admitted she might have called 911 prematurely. The man was unable to explain to deputies what the argument was about and had no idea why deputies were at the home.

Security breach
11:10 p.m. — 5200 block of Aqua Breeze Drive. Information Only. The president of a condominium homeowners association reported that the arm of the community security gate came down on a resident’s friend who was visiting from out of town.

Sept. 3
7:24 p.m. — 6100 block of 55th Terrace E. Domestic Disturbance. A caller reported hearing the sound of glass shattering at a neighbor’s home. A man admitted that he broke the window out of frustration, which his mother confirmed.

Sept. 4
One man’s treasure, another man’s trash
12:36 a.m. — 8200 block of Tourist Center Drive.
Information Only. A man reported that he dropped off $3,000 worth of stainless steel material to build new restrooms at a fast-food restaurant behind two Dumpsters on the property and discovered that the material was gone when he returned with a work crew. A deputy took an information report but told the man that by leaving the material near Dumpsters, he was giving the impression that it was trash.

Walking while wasted
1:30 a.m. — Tuttle Avenue and University Parkway. Marchman Act. A deputy took a man into custody after he stumbled into traffic and almost got hit by a car while attempting to cross the street. The man smelled like beer and appeared impaired but refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

Sept. 5
8:04 a.m. — 20600 block of S.R. 64 E. Grand Theft From Construction Site. An unknown person started up a tractor.
