The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce’s website will soon be getting a facelift, says Executive Director Kevin Cooper. After approximately six years of using the chamber’s current website, Cooper says he felt now was a good time to update everything.

“It seemed like it was time to take a step back and update both the site’s aesthetic appeal and user-friendliness,” said Cooper. “We’ve been happy with the site we have, but it seemed like a good time to modernize everything.”

The website’s overhaul will be a collaborative effort between Clear Idea Tech., which will be designing the website’s back-end features, and Concept Digital Media, which will be focusing on the site’s design and aesthetics.

Cooper says that user-friendliness is a focal point in the redesign.

“Currently, the user kind of has to walk through the site, instead of being pulled through,” he said. “We hope to entice people to say on the site longer, look at more pages and increase our online presence.”

Cooper acknowledges the importance of having an online presence for the benefit of both the chamber and its members.

“I hope it will help both of us in a lot of ways,” he said. “We want the website to be more interactive for users, so that we can showcase our members.”

The chamber hopes to debut a beta version of the site by the end of the year, and Cooper says that, despite the long process, he’s excited for the new opportunities the site will provide.

“It’s like being able to build a house from the ground up,” he said.
